Dear Parents,

May the Peace of Our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.

Ss. Joachim and Anne has applied for the Universal PreKindergarten Program.  It is our hope that we will be approved.  This has been a long journey and lots of work in a collaborative effort among administration, teachers, the financial office, custodial staff and other Catholic schools who have had UPK has helped to achieve our goal.

Only children who will be 4 years old by December 31, 2010 may apply to the program.

Universal PreK is a government funded program that allows 4 year olds to attend a 2 ½ hour PreK session for free.  There will be two 2 ½ hour sessions – one in the morning and one in the afternoon.  The children in the morning session will receive free breakfast and snack.  The children in the afternoon session will receive free lunch and snack.

PreK will still be a full day8 AM to 2 PM .  One half day will be Universal PreK and one half day will be our SsJA School PreK.  One half the day is free and the charge for the second half of the day will be $1750.00.  This will cut your tuition by approximately 50%.

Only 18 children will be allowed in each session, morning and afternoon.  Therefore, Ss. Joachim & Anne children may apply first, but when the quota is reached in each session we will be unable to accept any more children in the Universal PreK.  Other children from the Queens area may apply.

Ms. Cotellessa will be teaching the Universal PreK and Sister Madeline will have the children for the other part of the day.  Religion may not be taught in the Universal PreK, but Sister Madeline will be teaching religion when she has the children in her room.

We believe this is going to be a great opportunity for us since your tuition costs will be lowered and we will receive new equipment and supplies from the UPK Program.  Please come as soon as you can to register because if we are accepted by the UPK, our school’s UPK will be advertised throughout Queens.

If you have any questions, please call the school.

Sincerely,

L. Freebes

Dear Parents/Guardians

Saints Joachim and Anne School has been Middle States Accredited since 1992 and reaccredited in 2003. The Administration and faculty has been diligently working on New Goals for the next three years and submitting a Six Year Progress Report to the Commission for the middle of June.

We thank our parents for their support as we continue to provide a rich Catholic tradition dedicated to developing the whole child in the image and likeness of Christ, while fostering intellectual and technological development in an environment of love, justice and peace.
